Dr. Kevin Cottingham is a native of Birmingham, Alabama whose always had a love for helping others in his community. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his medical degree from The University of Alabama School of Medicine. Dr. Cottingham’s post-doctoral training includes serving as a Surgery Resident at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and as a Surgery Resident and Surgery Intern at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Cottingham opened his practice in January 2009 and is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care that focuses on General, Laparoscopic, Robotic and Bariatric Surgery in a professional and compassionate environment that supports healthy living. He is board certified by the American Medical Association and has received honors by the State of Alabama Commendation for Exceptional Patient Care. Dr. Cottingham has also performed numerous research studies in Preoperative and Postoperative Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass procedure, Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, and the Effect of H2 Blockers on Composition of Gastric Residuals in patients. In his free time, Dr. Cottingham enjoys spending time with his family and is highly dedicated to serving the community for which he serves. He is married to Jennifer and they have three beautiful children. Dr. Cottingham’s dedication to the Cullman community is evident in the large number of satisfied patients that he serves at Horizon Surgical.
